2020 Jr Hatfield announcement

With the continuing threat of COVID-19 and current social distancing requirements, Spirit Mountain Community Fund staff have made the difficult decision to cancel the Junior Hatfield Program that was scheduled to take place this summer.

“We are disappointed to have to cancel such a great learning experience for our Tribal youth, but during these uncertain times, the health and safety of our staff and our youth are a priority for us,” said Executive Director Michael Cherry. “We plan to continue this program next summer with an amazing opportunity for a tribal youth to learn about a career in public service, while working directly with local government legislators, tribal government leaders and past Hatfield Fellows. The idea is to prep Native youth for the possibility of a future Hatfield Fellowship in Washington, D.C.”
